George Ashton, for many years a photographer in Council Bluffs, died Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, where he was taken following a fall on a lower Broadway sidewalk Saturday, February 13. Ashton was 74 years old. His only known surviving relative is a brother living in Stockport, England. He is being communicated with to learn what disposition he wishes to be made with the body.

Ashton's fall, at the time it occurred, was not considered serious, and it was not until the next day that he was sent to the hospital by the city. He had been in this country for many years.

At one time he conducted a photograph gallery of his own on Broadway, but of late years has worked for others over the city. Among those to whose employ he has been in the past are G.H. Hansen and C.H. Sherraden.
