THE OBITUARY OF

C. Ben Barton

C. Ben Barton

The funeral of C.B. Barton, who died Saturday morning occurred Sunday at 1 p.m. The services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Henry DeLong. He spoke earnestly and familiarly of the deceased, for he had known him from childhood.

Mr. Barton was born in this city January 20, 1864, and was at death nearly 28 years of age. His home had been in this vicinity all his life.

In 1887 he united in marriage with Miss Mollie Johnson of Crescent, who with one child, little Minnie, aged 3 years, survives him; also his aged mother who also resides in this city and a sister, Mrs. John Green at Honey Creek.

Mr. Barton was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a brick moulder by trade and for a long time had been in the employ of Wickham brothers.

He had been in poor health during most of last summer and in consequence of being dependent upon his wages for the support of his family, the wife and child are left in poor circumstances. But by the tender mercies of the numerous benevolent societies in the city and the friends of the family, she shall not suffer.

The remains of the deceased were conveyed to Crescent where they were buried. Attending the burial was a large body of people of that community, there to testify their sympathy with the bereaved. Rev. Stuart of the Broadway Methodist Church spoke a few appropriate words at the grave, then was given back to earth that which from it came.
