James Belt

James Elroy Belt, 84, 3631 Sixth Avenue, died Sunday at a local hospital after several month's illness. Mr. Belt, a resident of this county most of his life, leaves 118 living descendants. Before retiring five years ago, he operated the same farm near Crescent for 43 years. He was born in Dakota City, Nebraska. Mr. Belt came to this county when he was 5.

Survivors include: six daughters, Mrs. Mabel Fisher of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Hazel Wright of Missouri Valley, Mrs. Myrtle Jorgensen of Omaha, Mrs. Edna Fields of Huron, SD, Mrs. Mabel Wright and Mrs. Lurene Stuart of Crescent; son, Jess of Glenwood; two brothers, James and Vince of Omaha; 43 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodring Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Crescent Cemetery.
