Algernon Sidney Bonham

Algernon Sidney Bonham, local automobile man, whose neck was broken when his car overturned between Denison and Schleswig Sunday night, died at Denison and the body was brought to Council Bluffs for burial. With Bonham at the time of his death were his mother, Clara Bonham, and three brothers, James, Will and Paul. Bonham was one of four brothers who saw world war service. He was with the railroad engineers, enlisted in May following the outbreak of the war in April 1917, and was overseas during a good portion of the hostilities. His service covered thirteen months. Returning, he took up the automobile business and was a salesman for the Hayward, Millard, Peterson Company of Omaha. He was prominent in the American Legion and Elk circles here. He was unmarried.

Bonham was 35 years of age and lived in Council Bluffs all his life. He is survived by three brothers, James, William and Paul all at home. He was a member of the local Elks Lodge No 531, the American Legion, the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and the First Presbyterian Church. He lived at 302 Harrison. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.(Section 16, Row 12, September 23, 1922)
