THE OBITUARY OFEdmund Bridge Bowman, Jr. |
Edmund Bridge Bowman, Jr., a former city official and a very well known citizen of Council Bluffs, died suddenly in St. Bernard's Hospital about 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon after a three day illness with acute Bright's disease. He was 40 years of age.
Mr. Bowman was born in Glenwood, Iowa, but shortly afterward the family moved to this city, which for the past thirty nine years has been his home. The news of the death came as a distinct shock to his many friends, as his illness was not generally considered serious. Mr. Bowman was at one time assistant postmaster and since then served one term as deputy city clerk.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. E.A. Troutman, Denver, CO; Mrs. Woodworth Allen and Mrs. George Gerner of this city. He was a nephew of former Congressman Thomas Bowman.
He was a popular member of the Elks Club and the Council Bluffs boat club.
The funeral will take place from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Gerner, 171 Glen Avenue, Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock, Rev. H.W. Starr of St. Pauls Episcopal Chuch will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
