Harriot Buckingham

Mrs. Harriot Buckingham, 95, died Sunday at Oakland Manor Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past year.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 3 at the Wheeler Grove United Church of Christ. The Rev. Michael Harvey and the Rev. Edward Beck officiated at services. Casket bearers were Craig Buckingham, Keevan Buckingham, Keith McClain, Jeffrey Buckingham, Stewart Buckingham, and Mike Wright. Lorraine Davenport and Virgie McClain cared for the flowers. Music was by Connie McClain, organist, and Mike Harvey and Eva Kullbom, soloists. Ushers were Lloyd Kullbom and Dale Miller. Burial was at Wheeler Grove Cemetery, Carson, with Vieth Funeral Home of Oakland officiating.

Harriot D. Osler was born March 12, 1886 at Carson, Iowa, the daughter of Elwood T. and Lenora I. Wheeler Osler. She lived her entire life in the Carson & Wheeler areas, spending just over 65 years on the one farm. She attended the University of Nebraska, graduating from there with her twin sister, Helen. She spent about 20 years teaching in this area, including schools in Carson, Oakland and Red Oak. She also taught in the rural schools in this area.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Miller Wille of Omaha; sons, John Elwood and Clinton Norris Buckingham, both of Carson; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Harriot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clinton in 1959, by her sisters; Helen (her twin), Edith, Margarite and Musette and her infant brother; also one grandson.
