THE OBITUARY OFFANNIE B. FREEMAN BUDDHA |
MADAM BUDDHA (FANNIE B. FREEMAN BUDDHA), long established in the clairvoyant business in this city, died suddenly of apoplexy last Sunday morning. Though she had complained for several days of not feeling well, her condition became alarming only about fifteen minutes before death. Dr. Elmer Porter was summoned to the woman's place of business at 113 South Sixteenth Street about 11 o'clock to find her dying.
The body was taken in a Dodder ambulance to her home at 522 South Twenty-Fourth Avenue and from there sent on a 4:20 train to Springfield, Illinois for interment.
Madam Buddha was 51 years old and for several years had been prominent in fortune telling circles in Omaha. She was the wife of H.M. Buddha, an attorney with offices in the Brandeis building.
According to occupants of the building on South Sixteenth Street where Madam Buddha had her palmistry parlors, considerable secrecy was maintained as to the nature of Sunday morning's occurrence. No one appeared to know whether the woman had died or was taken ill, the latter conjecture being based on the presence of the ambulance to transfer the body in place of the customary "undertaker's wagon." A young woman employed as an office girl by Madam Buddha has appeared several times at the office since Sunday, but all attempts to question her or gain information as to the whereabouts of her mistress failed of success.
Madam Buddha's death is recorded by the board of health under the name of Fannie B. Freeman, which is said to have been her maiden name.
