Clark Cemetery - Kane Township

Clark Cemetery, located on top of a hill on Franklin Avenue near Bennett Avenue, overlooks Mosquito Creek Valley to the East was founded by Algernon Sidney Bonham who purchased 120 acres from his friend Edwin Clark in1860.

When the land was surveyed Mr. Bonham found he had 121 acres so he and Mr. Clark decided to make the extra acre a cemetery. Between them (a flip of the coin) they decided on the name of Clark Cemetery and a road nearby as Bonham Avenue.

There has been some vandalism to the gravestones, and to prevent additional damage, the road to the cemetery has been closed. It is only open on Memorial Day. The cemetery is cared for by the City of Council Bluffs.
