The part which Council Bluffs otherwise took in the war for the Union will always be of intense interest to those who are proud of her history. The fact has already been stated, in the sketch given of the career of Gen. Dodge, that Camp Kirkwood was established near the southern limits of the city, on the high ground north of the Mosquito Creek and east of the road leading to the Deaf and Dumb Institute. |
