Hugh M. Deeds

Hugh M. Deeds, 81, died at midnight Sunday at Mercy Hospital after a few weeks illness due to old age.

He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Alice Palen of this city; and seven sons, C.M. Deeds, George T. Deeds and Edward E. Deeds all of Omaha; James B. Deeds of Los Angeles, CA; H.M. Deeds, Jr., R.C.Deeds and Elmer E. Deeds all of this city.

Mr. Deeds was a member of the Union Veteran Legion and was an old soldier having enlisted August 24, 1862, in Company C, Sixth Regiment Illinois Cavalry, and received his discharge, June 6, 1865. He later re-inlisted and remained in the army until the close of the war.

The body was removed to Woodring's Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. C.O. Stuckenbruck will perform the funeral ceremony. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
