THE OBITUARY OFJohn Evans |
John Evans, one of the pioneer residents of the county, died yesterday afternoon a 3 o'clock, death being due to heart trouble of which he had been a sufferer for several years. Evans was nearly 69 years of age and had lived a large part of his life in Garner township, where he died. He had been a resident of the township for fifty six years, and was in fact one of the earliest settlers in western Iowa. He was well known all over this part of the state. A wife and five children survive the deceased. The daughters are Mrs. Maggie Dewit of Fedora, SD and Mrs. Sadie Wilson of Woodbine, Iowa. The sons are John Evans, Jr., Wilmot, SD; Francis Evans of Hartington, Nebraska and Evan Evans of Newcastle, Nebraska. He also leaves two brothers, Joseph Evans of Garner township and David Evans of Council Bluffs. Mr. Evans was born in Wales.

The funeral of John Evans, the pioneer Garner Township farmer who died at his home near Crescent City friday afternoon of heart trouble, will be held from the Latter Day Saints Church in Crescent at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Before the church services there will be a short service at the home. Burial will be in the Crescent Cemetery.
