THE OBITUARY OFMargaret Ann Fletcher |
Margaret Ann Fletcher, pioneer resident of Council Bluffs and mother of the late Edith Prouty, for many years a teacher in the public schools, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.A. Hess. She had been ill for about one month.
She was born in England in 1847. With her family she arrived in the United States in 1853, coming up the Mississippi by boat to Dubuque. After a short stay there the family came to Council Bluffs in wagons drawn by oxen. They took up a government claim east of town. Since that time Mrs. Fletcher has been a resident of Council Bluffs.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Fletcher is survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Beem-Belford Funeal Home. (Walnut Hill Cemetery, Section 1, Row 1, June 8, 1847 - February 17, 1935, married S.S. Fletcher, May 24, 1867)
