THE OBITUARY OFWilhelmina Grote |
Wilhelmina Grote, wife of Herman Grote, died at the family home yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, 76 years. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Mrs. Grote was one of the pioneer residents of this city, emigrating here from Germany in 1856. Upon arriving in this city, Mr. and Mrs.Grote moved into the same house on broadway that is now occupied by the surviving members of the family. A few years after her arrival in Council Bluffs Mrs. Grote was one of the organizers of the German Evangelical Church on the corner of Glen Avenue and Pierce Street, and during all the ensuing years has been one of the active supporters and laborers in the work of that church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Grote is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Matthew Bartel, Mrs. Oscar Younkerman, Mrs. Louise Kost and Miss Minnie Grote all of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Prefke of Omaha; and three sons: Herman Grote, Jr., A.F. and W.C. Grote all of this city.
The funeral services will be Sunday afternoon in the German Evangelical Church on Glen Avenue and Pierce Street. Rev. C.P. Cawelti will make an address in English and the Rev. C.C. Pfund of Des Moines presiding elder of the church for this district will conduct the services in the German language. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
