Joseph Hancock

Joseph Hancock, one of he early settlers of Pottawattamie County died at 11:15 a.m. yesterday at his home on East Broadway near the city limits, aged 71 years, 7 months and 3 days.

The deceased was born in England and leaves a wife Letitia; one daughter Mrs. Henry (Mary E.) Bateman; and three sons, Joseph, Charles B. and John.

Death was caused by cancer, which had prevailed for eleven months. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock from the residence to Grange Cemetery in Boomer Township.

He was born October 16, 1829, England and died July 9, 1901. His wife Letitia was born October 18, 1832, England and died June 12, 1886. Both are buried in Grange Cemetery.
