Former Council Bluffs resident Gretchen Prouty Hansen, 80, died Friday at her home in Seattle, Washington. Burial service will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hansen was born in Council Bluffs and lived here until the 1950s when she moved to Seattle. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Council Bluffs.

Surviving are: a sister, Ida Prouty Truscott of Snowmass Village, CO; one nephew and one niece. Her parents, S.B. Prouty and Grace (McKenzie) Prouty lived in Council Bluffs. Mrs. Hansen was the author of the book "Commitment."
