THE OBITUARY OFElizabeth Alice Hayward |
Elizabeth Alice Hayward, 55, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Steve Myers, eight miles north of Missouri Valley, at 10:45 Tuesday night. She was injured at her home in Downsville last fall and was taken to the Jennie Edmondson Hospital where she remained for three weeks. She was taken to the home of her daughter near Missouri Valley last September.
She was born in Greene County, Iowa and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Fleck. She came to Pottawattamie County with her parents in 1872 and has been a resident of this county the greater part of her life. She was married in 1886 to J.F. Hayward of Rock Island, IL, who died May 22, 1916.
She is survived by eight children: Frank Hayward of Roseburg, OR; Paul Hayward of Grant Center, IA; Mrs. Mattie Myers of Missouri Valley, IA; Mrs. Irene Grove of Dix, NE; Miss Alice Hayward of Missouri Valley, IA; Mrs. Jennie Hildebrandt of Detroit, MI; Mrs. Frances Petersen of Council Bluffs; Miss Esther Hayward of Iowa City, IA. She also leaves three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William Whitney of Underwood, IA; and two brothers, M.W. Wright of Underwood, IA, and L.W. Wright of Tabor, IA.
She had been a member of the First Christian Church since early childhood. The body is at King's Parlors where it will remain till the hour of the funeral. The funeral cortege will leave King's Chapel at 11:45 o'clock Friday noon. Rev. C.O. Stuckenbruck officiating. Burial will be in the Downsville Cemetery.
