THE OBITUARY OFWilliam Hetherington |
It is with lamentation that we have to announce the death of a great man, William Hetherington, son of William Hetherington--born in Kendall County, Westmorland, North of England, who died on the 5th inst. He was a great geologist, and held a place under the English Government, which he left and came to Nauvoo with the Saints, in 1843. In 1844 he was married to Jane McIntosh, daughter of Daniel McIntosh, a merchant in Kittin, North of Scotland. This William enlisted in the war of France only for the term of it, which ended in the repulse at Waterloo. He was chosen then and pronounced to be the best made and the finest king man in ten thousand. He came to Council Bluffs in 1846 with the Church. He made his residence here, and is buried on his own land. He was a polished shaft in God almighty's hand. He has left none in this country, but his widow to mourn for him.
