Sgt. Thomas E. Houser

Sgt. Thomas E. Houser, 22, died January 3 in Amiriyah, Iraq, while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was born February 6, 1982 in Council Bluffs and graduated from St. Albert High School in 2000. He was a member of Queen of Apostles Catholic Church. Houser is preceded in death by his grandparents, Anna L. Houser, Mary Patricia Waldmann and Ed and Florence Ward.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen "M.E. Ward" and husband, Larry, of Council Bluffs; father, John J. Houser, Jr. of Council Bluffs; brother, John J. Houser "Joe" III of Camp Lejeune, NC; grandfather, John J. Houser, Sr., of Omaha; grandparents, Gene and Rita Waldmann of Council Bluffs; stepbrother, Sean Ward of Omaha; stepsisters, Kim Nath of Omaha, Cassie Lester of St. Petersburg, FL, and Tami Ward of Memphis, TN; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral Mass is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Mid American Center with the Rev. Phil Hobt from St. Albert Schools as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
