“Broom Maker Dies”

Andrew Jackson James, 85, retired broom maker, died of heart disease at 8:40 p.m. Saturday at 220 North Thirteen Street. He had been ill a week. James had lived here thirty years and was a member of the Maccabees Lodge.

Surviving is a son, Carl L. James, Hynes, CA; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Eakin and Miss Frances James, Council Bluffs; a brother, Levi James, Des Moines, and three sisters, Mrs. Will Martin and Mrs. Leonard Hurd, Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Anna Berg, Portland, OR, grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There are eight grandchildren. Cutler Funeral Home is in charge.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for Morris Hough, who died at his home in Hazel Dell Township Monday morning of old age, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the residence, followed by services at Grange church in Boomer Township at 3 p.m. Elder John Hansen of Underwood will officiate. Burial will be in the Grange Cemetery. (Born: April 20, 1843)
