Rachel Ellen Johnson died at 3:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon of stomach trouble after an illness of four months. The funeral will be held on Thursday, with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was about 65 years of age, though she was born in slavery on a Virginia plantation and the early portion of her life was rather obscure.
