THE OBITUARY OFHardin Jones |
All of the old settlers of this county will regret to hear of the death of Mr. Hardin Jones, who died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Joseph Moss, in Loveland on Sunday last. Mr. Jones suffered a paralytic stroke two years ago, from which he never recovered.
He had reached the ripe age of 77 years, having been born in Casey County, Kentucky in1810. He came to Iowa in 1854, settling in this county, where he has ever since resided.
He was a man of strong character and very positive in his convictions, and when once his mind was made up it was not easily changed.
He was a good citizen of Pottawattamie for a third of a century, a strong democrat all of his life, and a steady member of the Baptist church for fifty years.
The funeral took place at Loveland, and he was buried there.
HARDIN JONES, of Norwalk, was in Council Bluffs Tuesday. Mr. Jones came to Council Bluffs in 1855. He has continuously lived in the county since his arrival in the west.
He was judge of Pottawattamie County court in 1886.
He has been the husband of four wives, and has several interesting sons and daughters who lend comfort to Mr. Jones' declining years.
He has recently been stricken with paralysis in his lower limbs, but is not suffering much distress from its effect. Hardin Jones has friends all over the county and western Iowa, and is a man of merit both socially and morally.
