THE OBITUARY OF

Philander Judson

Philander Judson

The funeral of Mr. PHILANDER JUDSON took place from his late residence on Sixth Avenue yesterday afternoon. Mr. Judson was born at Brookfield, Connecticut in 1802, and consequently was about eighty-three years of age at the time of his death. He removed to Wisconsin in 1839, long before it became a state, and was therefore, one of the early pioneers of that young commonwealth. His home was in Wisconsin where he obtained a competence, until seven years ago, when he came to Council Bluffs, the home of his only son, L.P. Judson, for many years city engineer. The old gentleman made a comfortable home for himself on Sixth Avenue, half a block from the residence of his son and family, where he and his estimable consort were spending their declining years in ease and quietness. The aged widow survived him, after a long and happy married life. Mr. and Mrs. Judson had four sons, three of whom preceded them in that long journey to the unknown and the only surviving child is Mr. L.P. Judson.
