Capt. Clyde A. Knapp


Report Capt. Knapp Missing in Action

Capt. Clyde A. Knapp of the United States Air Corps, formerly of Council Bluffs and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School has been missing in action since January 7 in Africa, according to word received here Friday.

Knapp, a captain in the air force since March 1, 1942, has been in Africa since November. He had been in Oran, Morroco and Algiers, relatives said, and the last letter from him was dated January 5.

Trained as an observer, bombarrier and gunner, Capt. Knapp entered the army two years ago as a lieutenant. He had been in charge of several CCC camps and prior to entering the army he was lieutenant of guards in the Los Angeles Ca, postoffice. He went to England last September.

His wife Joycelyn, and their two children, Barbara and David, live in Los Angeles. His mother, Mrs. William Range is living in Lincoln, NE, and his father, George Knapp, Omaha. Two sisters, Grace Knapp and Mrs. Gladys Anderson, live in Council Bluffs. Another sister, Mrs.Dorothy Jones is a Los Angeles resident, and a brother Royce H. Knapp lives in Boston, Mass.
