THE OBITUARY OFAdolph Kraus |
Adolph Ferdnand Kraus, Council Bluffs' first blacksmith and last suriving charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, died at his home at 540 East Broadway, Friday evening at 8 o'clock after an illness of two weeks at the age of 83. He had lived in the house there for the past half century.
Mr. Kraus came to Detroit, Michigan from Prussia, Germany in 1866 and to this city by way of steamboat from St. Louis in 1869 and opened his blacksmith shop. His wife died August 19, 1918 at the age of 75.
He is survived by two sons, H.C.L. and Adolph, Jr., both of this city, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ben Winhester, also of Council Bluffs, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 1:30 o'clock Sunday and at St. Paul's Evangelical Church at 2 o'clock with King's in charge. Rev. M.H. Mueller will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
