THE OBITUARY OFAugusta Kuhl |
Mrs. Augusta Kuhl died Sunday morning at the home of her son, William Hederich, after an illness that has extended over a period of several months. She had however, apparently recovered in a great measure from the illness that had afflicted her for so long and her friends were hoping that she would ultimately recover her former rugged health but it was not to be. Last Thursday she as again taken ill and rapidly grew worse until her death.
Augusta Draeger was born in Germany June 15, 1836. She married to William Hederich February 5, 1860 and came to America in 1878, landing in Council Bluffs on the 4th day of June. Three boys and two girls were born to this union of whom William and Charles are the only ones living, the other dying when small. October 4, 1871 her husband died and August 10, 1873 when was again married to Hans Detlef Kuhl who died November 27, 1877. No children were born to this union. One grand child and one great grandchild also survive and she has some relatives in Germany but the correspondence has not been kept up very regularly of late years so it is not known how many of them are living.
Of late years Mrs. Kuhl has made her home with her sons and acted as their housekeeper. We have often seen her in town before her illness and marveled at her spryness.
The funeral is held this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the house and interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, she having been a member of that denomination for many years. Charles Hederich, who now lives in Grand Junction, Colorado, arrived home Monday to attend the funeral. Both of the brothers have the sympathy of many friends.
