Herbert S. "Bert" Leonard, 77, 1520 McPherson Avenue, a resident of Council Bluffs for 63 years, died Monday night at a local hospital. He had been in ill health for many years.

His wife, Laura Leonard, was county superintendent of school for 21 years and deputy superintendent for six years prior to that.

Only other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Paul Shepard, and nephew, Nathaniel Shepard, both of Belleville, Il.
