Mary Veronica McCauley

Mrs. Mary Veronica McCauley, 71, 507 Franklin Avenue, died Thursday afternoon shortly after she was admitted to a local hospital. She had been ill at home for a few days. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wickham, pioneer Council Bluffs family, Mrs. McCauley was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School and a member of St. Patrick’s Church. Mrs. McCauley was past president of St. Patrick’s Parish and Altar Society, a charter member and the first treasurer of St. Francis Alumni and a member of the Christ Child Society.

Survivors are: husband, Charles; two sons, the Rev. Vincent J. McCauley, head of the Foreign Missionary Seminary in Washington D.C. and Dr. Robert F. McCauley of Hastings, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Margaret Munger of Hastings; Mrs. Eleanor McCandless of Omaha and Mrs. Eileen Sweeney of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Murphy of Minneapolis, MN, and Mrs. Bernadette Schaaf of Council Bluffs, and eight grandchildren.

Requiem mass will be celebrated by her son, Vincent, at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patricks’ Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The body will be at the Beem Belford Funeral Home until the hour of the funeral.
