After an illness of ten weeks due to the infirmities of old age, JOHN McDERMOTT died yesterday at St. Bernard's Hospital.

During his last hours all of the children, eight in number, were at his bedside. These are: Mother Mary Vincent, in charge of St. Bernard's and Mercy Hospitals, Council Bluffs; James McDermott, Sioux City; Mother Mary Gertrude in charge of St. Vincent's Home, Sioux City; Mrs. P.O. McDermott, Council Bluffs; J.E. McDermott, Des Moines; Mrs. J.J. O'Rourke, Omaha; Mrs. F.T. Seybert, Council Bluffs; Dr. B.A. McDermott, Omaha.

John McDermott had reached the ripe old age of 82 years. He was born in Ireland and came to this country in 1847, settling at Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He moved from there to Marysville, Missouri, in 1877 and came to Council Bluffs eight years ago.

The deceased is survived by his wife. The couple had been at St. Bernard's Hospital for about a year past, although they still retained their home at 114 East Washington Avenue.

The funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Church, Rev. Father Smythe officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
