Sister Mary Baptista McGowen
SISTER MARY BAPTISTA McGOWEN, 46, nurse at St. Bernard's Hospital died unexpectedly of a heart attack Wednesday at the hospital. She joined the order on July 2, 1909, and served as a nurse at the hospital throughout the succeeding years.
Survivors are: two brothers and two sisters living in Ireland and one cousin, Sister Mary Edwards.
The body will lie in state in St. Bernard's parlor until the funeral is held Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard's Chapel with the Chaplain, Rev. Patrick Owen celebrating requiem mass.
Burial will be in the sisters' lot in St. Joseph Cemetery.
