Fred R. Owen, 89, died Sunday at a Council Bluffs Hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Council Bluffs and had worked for Omaha Standard and Hecht Nursery. He was a member of First Christian Church.

His wife, Grace, died in 1987. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Marjorie) Andersen, Mrs. Richard (Lois) Knudsen and Mrs. Charles (Sharry) Thompson all of Council Bluffs; brothers, Edward and George of Council Bluffs; sister, Mrs. John (Ethel) Burleson of Council Bluffs; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
