Charles Patee

CHARLES PATEE, colored, who had sold "hot tamales" on the streets of Council Bluffs for many years, died Sunday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, after an illness of six months. Death was due to complications resulting from advanced age and an infection of the foot.

Patee was 65 years of age and a familiar figure to Council Bluffs people. He resided alone at 612 ½ West Broadway and was a member of the Knights of Pythias in Omaha and the African M.E. Church. He had resided in this city thirty years.

He is survived by: a step son-in-law by marriage, George Douglas, Davenport, Iowa, and two step-grandsons by marriage, George Douglas, Jr., Davenport, Iowa and Charles Douglas, Jr., Council Bluffs.

The body was removed to Cutler's parlors. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with services at the grave in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
