Bessie May Prouty, 70, a former resident here, died at Oakland California, it was reported Thursday. She was the widow of Calvin Locke Prouty, a pioneer resident here.

Mrs. Prouty lived here until 1940. She was a member of the Glendale Presbyterian Church and the Council Bluffs Woman's Club.

Survivors include: two sons, Herbert of San Antonio, TX, and Robert of Oakland, CA; sister, Mrs. Bonnie Ford of Hollywood,CA; and three grandchildren.
