THE OBITUARY OF

Father W. J. Quinn

Father W. J. Quinn

Zeal for the welfare, spiritual and temporal, of his people, led Father W. J. QUINN of Holy Family into homes directly afflicted with the dread plague, which now oppresses us. Constantly working, early and late, he himself contracted the disease. Pneumonia rapidly developed and on Wednesday evening he yielded up his soul to God, happy in the knowledge that all his life long, and especially in the twenty years of his priesthood he had faithfully labored to advance the honor and glory of Him Who now called.

Father Quinn has been pastor of Holy Family parish for three and a half years, coming here from red Oak where he had been pastor for fourteen years, winning many sincere friends who will deeply mourn his loss. During his short stay here he has won for himself a place in the hearts of his people, his neighbors, and all with whom he came in contact, which he will hold while life lasts for them.

The burden of his loss is added to by the fact, owing to the quarantine regulations, no funeral can be held. His friends can have no opportunity of publicly giving evidence of the respect, honor and love, which they have for him.

Father Quinn is survived by: two sisters and five brothers. Two of his brothers were with him at his death and early this morning they took his body away to lay it beside his parents in the cemetery at St. Marys, Iowa, his childhood home.
