Robert F. Rain, 87, 345 Scott Street, died Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock in a local hospital, following an illness of several months. He had been a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Mr. Rain was born at Annfield Plain, Durham County, England, on May 11, 1843. When he was 13 years of age he came to the United States. Seventy two years of his life was spent in Council Bluffs. He was once a member of the board of education and served on the city council.

Surviving Mr. Rain are his widow, Rosina; one daughter, Mrs. Ellen E. Haag of Denver, Colorado; three sons, Robert L. Rain, former city councilman; Jesse J. Rain and Arthur L. Rain all of Council Bluffs, and four grandsons and one great grandson.
