THE OBITUARY OFMaude B. Ranck |
Maude B. Ranck, 80, "dean" of the city's registered nurses, died Sunday at a local hospital after six weeks illness. She had made her home with a nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Frazier, 10 Charles St. Born in Pennsylvania, Miss Ranck came here with her parents about 70 years ago. She was graduated from the Council Bluffs General Hospital on September 15, 1905. The hospital is now called Jennie Edmundson.
During World War I she was a Red Cross nurse. For many years she was health nurse in the public schools and during World War II was in charge of the infirmary at Iowa School for the Deaf. Miss Ranck was a member of Broadway Methodist Church.
Surviving are: sister, Mrs. E.M. Swan of Newport News, VA, and a brother Guy L. Ranck of St. Louis, MO.
Funeral services will be held at the Woodring Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Gerald E. Bisbee officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
