Marian (Saunders) Riley

Mrs. GEORGE A RILEY, formerly Miss Marian Saunders, daughter of Colonel and Mrs. C.G. Saunders, died of pneumonia, following a attack of influenza at Norfolk, Virginia, at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday, October 2. Her illness if suppose to have been the Spanish influenza, which is now taking on the appearance of an epidemic.

Marion Saunders Riley was born in Council Bluffs on September 24, 1894. She was educated in the public schools of this city and was a classical graduate of Drake University. On October 6, 1917, she was united in marriage to George A. Riley of Omaha, who is now engaged in the government shipyards at Norfolk.

She is survived by: her husband, her parents, Colonel and Mrs. Saunders, a brother, Charles Saunders, now a member of the student army training corps at Northwestern University, and a sister, Mrs. George A. Peak of Des Moines, Iowa.

The remains will leave Norfolk on Thursday evening and arrive in Council Bluffs Saturday night. The funeral will be held from the home of her parents at 308 Oakland Avenue, the Rev. Crissman officiating. Services were held in the open air. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
