Christian Commission

The ladies of Council Bluffs lent a hand in aiding the country, when early in the war, a Soldier's Aid Society was formed here. On the 22nd of March, 1862, that organization was merged into a branch of the "Army Sanitary Commission of Iowa."

A branch of the Christian Commission was also established here to aid in the work assigned to that organization, in the hospitals, and camps, and military posts.
