John J. Spindler

JOHN J. SPINDLER, cashier of the First National Bank, died at 3 o'clock, Thursday morning at the Nicholas Senn Hospital, Omaha, following an operation late Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Spindler was 52 years of age.

Born in Germany, Mr. Spindler came to this country in early childhood with his parents and spent his early life on a farm in Scott County, Iowa. Later when he had grown to manhood, he removed to Davenport. In the late eighties or the early nineties he removed to Avoca, where he became cashier of the Avoca State Bank. He then moved to Sioux Rapids, Iowa and identified with the Security State Bank. About ten years ago Mr. Spindler removed to Council Bluffs, where he became associated with the First National Bank.

Just a year ago Mr. Spindler submitted to an operation for stomach trouble but has not been strong physically since. The second operation was finally determined upon in the hope that his full recovery might be accomplished. He is survived by a widow and four daughters. The daughters are Mrs. L.L. Winship of Boston; Mrs. Glenn Wilcox of Council Bluffs, and Josephine, aged 9 and Helen, aged 12, at home. The funeral will be held from the residence, 134 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
