THE OBITUARY OFJames Monroe Templeton |
James Monroe Templeton, a pioneer of Council Bluffs, father of former Fire Chief J.L. Templeton, died of infirmities yesterday at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 21 days. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Services will be conducted at the home of J.L. Templeton, 308 North Sixth Street.
Mr. Templeton was a Virginian by birth. When a mere boy he came west to Missouri with his parents, and in 1862 took up his residence here. He was a blacksmith by trade and later engaged in carpenter work and at these occupations spent the greater part of the time he lived in this city. For a number of years, he had been in ill health, and spent his time then in visiting the homes of members of his family. For about sixty years he was affiliated with the Masons, and was a member of Bluff City Lodge.
The surviving children are W.A. Templeton of Omaha, Mrs. Fannie Gregg of Los Angeles, Mrs. W.H. Campbell of Missouri Valley, Mrs. W.N. Young of Chicago, Mrs. Fred Pearl of South Omaha, D.W. Templeton and J.L. Templeton of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Jennie Silver of Bellevue, NE. (no gravestone)
