Sarah Jane Thomas

Funeral services for Sarah Jane Thomas, wife of George L. Thomas, who died March 15 at her home, 218 Harrison Street, were held at 12:30 o'clock Friday at the home with Council Bluffs Chapter No. 441 of the Order of Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Thomas was a member giving its service. A prayer was offered by Elder George R. Beaty and remarks were made by Elder Richard Baldwin.

Other services were held at the Grange Church in Boomer Township at 2:30 o'clock with the same elders in charge. It was estimated that 500 persons attended the services at the Grange Church. The floral offerings were so profuse that they could not all be displayed at the church. Music was by Roy C. Murphy, Miss Marie Salisbury, Miss Pearl Darrington, Nels Johnson with Mrs. Lettie A. Murphy at the piano.

Pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law of Mrs. Thomas. They were Charles L. Thomas, David Thomas, George H. Thomas, Lloyd Thomas, W.F. Ward and Sam Hough. Flower bearers were her grandchildren. They were: Freeman Ward, Leslie Ward, Harold Hough, Marguerite Beardsley, Virgil Thomas, Dorothy Thomas, Howard Hough, Hazel Thomas, Clifford Thomas, Luella Thomas, Raymond Thomas and Doris Ellen Hough.

Burial was in the Grange Cemetery.
