THE OBITUARY OFWilliam H. Ware |
William H. Ware, attorney, aged 75 years, a resident of this city and county since 1867, died at 6:30 o'clock Tuesday evening at Mercy Hospital, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Ware was born in Baltimore, MD, but was reared in Philadelphia to the age of 6 years, when his parents removed with their family to LaSalle County, IL. He remained there until 1867 when at the age of 15 he came with his parents to Council Bluffs. Two years later he made a permanent location in Pottawattamie County.
For two years he worked at farm labor and afterward engaged in teaching school in this county for four years. He also devoted one year to that profession in Nebraska and published a paper in Nebraska called the Sarpy County Sentinel. After a year he sold the paper and having prepared for the practice of law, was admitted to the Bar of Pottawattamie County in 1880.
For one term Mr. Ware served as county attorney and twice represented his district in the state legislature, having been elected in 1890 and again in 1892. His politics were democratic. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, Camp No. 171, and the Order of Owls. He also was a member of the county and state bar associations.
Mr. Ware is survived by a niece, Mrs. Ivan Malone of Denver, who will arrive Wednesday evening to attend the funeral.
The funeral of William H. Ware will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Francis Church, Mgr. F.P. McManus officiating.
Mrs. Ivan Malone of Denver, a niece, has arrived to attend the funeral. Members of the Pottawattamie County Bar Association also will attend in a body.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may view the body at Woodring's Funeral Home up to the hour of the funeral.
