HON. WILLIAM H. WARE, of Council Bluffs, attorney and counselor at law and member of the House of Representatives of the State of Iowa for 1890-91, was born at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, march 3, 1850.

The family of which Mr. Ware is a descendant came to Pennsylvania from England and settled at the latter place prior to the Revolution of 1776, and many of them were soldiers in the American army during the struggle for independence.

When Mr. Ware was a lad his father with his family removed from Pennsylvania to Illinois, where the subject of this sketch remained until 1869, at which date he came to Iowa. His father was a farmer by occupation and the early life of the subject of this sketch was spent on his father's farm, and he was engaged in the occupations incident thereto. Soon after coming to Iowa Mr. Ware was engaged as a teacher in the public schools that state. In 1874 he removed to Nebraska where he published a paper for a time, returning from that state to Council Bluffs, where he now resides, and is engaged in the practice of the law. He studied law in the office of the late Robert Percival, and was admitted to practice in the state and federal courts at Council Bluffs in 1880.

In 1882 he was married to Miss Ingleetta F. Smith, a sister of Judge Walter I. Smith, of Council Bluffs. Mr. Ware is an able lawyer and enjoys the confidence and respect of his fellow practitioners. Mr. Ware has always been an advocate of low tariff, and has been for a number of years an active member of the Democratic Party. In 1889 he was elected, as a Democrat, to represent Pottawattamie County in the Twenty-Third General Assembly of the State of Iowa. His term of office will expire in 1891.
