THE OBITUARY OF

Nansel (Mansel) Wicks

Nansel (Mansel) Wicks

Nansel (Mansel) Wicks formerly a resident and one of the earliest settlers here, died yesterday morning at Palastine, Texas. He had gone there about a week ago from here to visit his son and was at the home of his son when he died.

The cause of his death is not known by his relatives here, but as he was 87 years of age and was injured about a year ago, it is thought that these two facts are responsible in large part for his death.

Mr. Wicks was born in NewYork in 1815. He came to Council Bluffs in 1851 and resided here for sixteen years. Since that time he has been residing in Council Bluffs and in Palestine, Texas, alternately.

Two of his daughters reside in this city now. They are Mrs. W.C. Ross and Mrs. Ida Abel. The remains will be brought here from Texas for burial. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
