Dr. Edward C. Weir, 79 of 222 Canning, died at his home Tuesday afternoon. He had been ill three years. Born at Montezuma, Dr. Weir had practice here 31 years. He was a staff member at Jennie Edmundson Hospital and a graduate of the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago. He was a 50 year member of the Iowa State Medical Association, and held a lifetime membership in the Pottawattamie County Medical Association. Before coming to Council Bluffs he practiced at Vail and Portsmouth.

Dr. Weir is survived by: widow, Clara; brother, Dr. C.R. Weir of Council Bluffs; sister, Mrs. R.H. Perryman of Red Oak, and two daughters, Mrs. Karl N. Coleman of Indianapolis and Miss Roberta of Council Bluffs.

Funeral services will be held at St. Patricks Church, the Rev. Thomas J. Moriarty will officiate, with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery
