James Wilson Woodruff

James Wilson Woodruff, died March 2, 1912 at his home in Oakland, IA. His death was caused by a heart attack. He will be buried in Belknap Cemetery. He was born April 25, 1844 in Bridgetown, NJ and married January 18, 18874 Mary Temperance Hays. He was preceded in death by his wife.

His survivors are: Harry Orr Woodruff of South bend, Washington, Charles Warner Woodruff of Seattle, Washington, Ella Louise Fowler of Council Bluffs, Hattie Adella Archer of Grinell, Iowa, Dan Elwell Woodruff of Omaha, NE, and John Caldwell Woodruff of Denison, Iowa.

Mr. Woodruff moved with his parents when a small child to near Fairfield, Iowa. As a young man he was employed as a stage driver on Overland Trail between Des Moines and Denver.

He came to Oakland soon after his marriage and was a veterinary surgeon for several years. The past 20 years he was a painter and paper hanger.
