Devere, Mrs. Emma, a schoolteacher on the Pleasant Valley
Road, died last Saturday in Davenport, Iowa.
Austin Lathrop, who has finished serving his time in the state penitentiary for
stealing a watch from his aunt, Mrs. Susan Flagg, is a brother to Mrs. Devere.
Burial will be today at Porterville, Illinois. (Rock Island Daily Union,
Tuesday 6 March 1877)
(Daily Union of March 7th: her funeral was yesterday from the residence of her aunt, Mrs. Susan Flagg, near Coaltown, Ills.)
(March 8th issue: she died at the home of her friend, Mrs. H.
Rose of Davenport, Iowa on Saturday.
The funeral was Sunday with burial in the Universal Cemetery at Portersville).

The funeral of the late M. T. Downs took place yesterday
afternoon from the resd. of his sister Mrs. L. N. Downs, Brady St..
The remains were sent to Saratoga, N.Y. for burials.
