Mr. and Mrs. Harley Chase visited relatives in Kiron Sunday.
Tom Connor broke an arm last Tuesday.
Francis Francis and Donald Connor spent last week in Omaha visiting relatives.
Dr. and Mrs. Fred Cox of Clarion spent the holidays with the doctor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Cox.
Miss Vida Cox, school nurse in the city of Des Moines, spent her vacation here with her parents. She left for her work Tuesday.
Geo. Hicks family of Dunlap visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Cox.Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Howe of Omaha visited over the week end with Mrs. Nan Terwilliger.
Miss Naomi Hulsebus, who is in nurse training at the Jennie Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs, spent Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hulsebus.
Harold Kingsbury had three toes injured last week when a wagon load of wood ran over his foot. The little toe was crushed but improved rapidly and Harold was able to wear a shoe a few days later.
Robt. Kirschbaum, driving his Ford coach, accompanied by his grandson, Xystna Peters, collided with Dick Terwilliger's car, Saturday afternoon, near Rogers Oil Station. No one was hurt and the cars were only slightly damaged.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kobold and family of Omaha visited the Mike Nollen, Sr., and Louis Theilan homes New Year's day.
F. J. Kuhl has made a deal for a store in Avoca and has taken possession this week. His family will move there when school is out in the spring.
Mrs. Olson and daughters, Dorothy and Jean, returned to their home at Nevada Sunday evening. They accompanied their son and brother, Lester, who was enroute to his school work at Naperville, Ill.
Mrs. Jos. Scheuring died at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon. She had been an invalid since an attack of meningitis over a year ago. She was about 54 years old and leaves her husband, three daughters and three sons. Her life story will appear next week.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Schwarte are the parents of a son, born Monday, Dec. 26.Mrs. Sam Shriver spent last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Buss, near Dow City.
Lavern Sternberg spent this week at Portsmouth visiting the Geo. Sternberg home.
Mrs. Nellie Swablen of Denver is visiting her sister, Mrs. D. H. Clark.
Miss Carmelita Tate and friend of Omaha visited Sunday and Monday with Mrs. Ray Brownell and husband.
Mrs. August Tersch was a patient at the Harlan hospital the first of the week. She had been suffering from infected tonsils so she had them removed.
Wm. Wickersham and son, Lee, of Nebraska City are transacting business here.

Reunited After 45 Years
John and Peter Jurschak, brothers met recently for the first time in 45 years, although they had lived within 70 miles of each other, all that time.
They came to this country from Austria in the 1880’s on separate boats. Because they could not speak English they lost each other.
Peter settled on his uncle’s farm near Defiance, Shelby county. John made his home at Elliott, Montgomery county, less than 70 miles away. Each gave the other up as lost forever.
A few weeks ago Peter read in the newspapers an item mentioning a Joseph Jurschak. He investigated and found that Joseph is John’s son. A meeting was arranged. The brothers were young men when they last seen each other. Now they are getting well along in life.
