New Bridge

Washington - April 1..."A bill was passed authorizing the construction of a bridge across the Iowa River at or near Wapello, Iowa.

Dave Robinson

Dave Robinson, in the Wapello Jail for burglary, made his escape recently by means of a key he had whittled from hard wood during meal time while the knives and dishes remained in the cell.

C.A. White

C.A. White, State Geoligist, states that along the proposed railroad route, in the counties of Monroe, Mahaska and Wapello, there are fully fiteen miles underlaid with a good bed of coal. He purposes to visit the northern part of the State, and spend the greater part of the season in investigating the fuel question, as regard to peat beds.
