CAIN, JOHN W.

Atchison Globe, Feb. 24, 1888

John W. Cain, the venerable father of the Cain brothers, died at 8 o'clock this morning in his eightieth year. Mr. Cain was born in Castletown, Isle of Man, and has lived in Atchison county thirty two years. The funeral will take place from Trinity church to Mt. Vernon cemetery on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

CAREY, JOSIE LAURA

Atchison Globe, February 11, 1881

Died - Friday, February 11th, Josie Laura, daughter of A. A. and Josie Carey. Funeral tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the family residence, at the corner of Kansas and Tenth Avenue.

CHALLIS, ARTHUR

Atchison Globe, December 13, 1882

Arthur Challis, son of Geo. T. Challis, died at his home in Atchison at 6 o'clock this morning, aged about 18 years. The young man had been in attendance at the State University in Lawrence this year, and came home on Thanksgiving day, suffering from malaria. In connection with Will Otis and Rolla Krebs, from Atchison, and a boy from the east, the deceased boarded at the residence of Professor Campfield, and it is believed that the cause of his illness and death was the bad water used, for Krebs and Otis have both been at home sick, and all the members of Professor Campfield's family have been ailing for some time. Mr. Challis was a young man of excellent habits, and of unusual promise, and his untimely death is the subject of many sincere regrets. Funeral tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at 2 p.m.

CHRISTIAN, WILLIAM WADE

Funeral services for William Wade Christian, 81, of Troy, are to be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Stanton chapel. The rev. Harold Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Smith Hutcherson, LeRoy Sandy, WIllard Clinkenbeard, Ralph Tate, Martin Schappler and Leopold Blodig. (Atchison Daily Globe, Friday, July 9, 1954)

CLARK, LUSETTA

Atchison Globe, July 25, 1881

Mrs. Lusetta Clark, colored, aged 68, grandmother of Billy Sprague, died of malarial fever at her residence, corner 6th and S streets, yesterday. Funeral tomorrow morning at 10 o clock from the Ebenezer Baptist church.

CLEGG, W. D.

Atchison Globe, Sept. 8, 1882

The funeral service of the late Rev. W. D. Clegg, who died this morning at 8 o'clock will take place from the First Baptist church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. All that can attend are respectfully invited to be present, and especially the ministers of the city. The remains will be temporarily entombed at Oak Hill, to be removed later to the family burying ground of the deceased in Troy, New York.

CLEMENTS, MR.

Mrs. Jean Browning and Mrs. Ithope Clements, have returned from Newton, Ia., where funeral services were held for the husband of Mrs. Clements. Mr. Clements died in a hospital in Los Angeles last week, after an illness of 13 years. Mrs. Clements will spend a few days with her sister before returning to her home in California. CLINE, HOWARD

Atchison Globe, September 1, 1880

Howard Cline was buried today, at Oak Hill. The funeral procession following his remains was the longest we have ever seen in this city.

COLLINS, CATHERINE

Atchison Globe, December 27, 1882

Mrs. Catherine Collins, wife of Timothy Collins, died yesterday at the age of 42. Funeral from her residence, No. 711 F. street, tomorrow afternoon at 1:30.

COLLINS, JACK

Atchison Globe, January 19, 1881

Jack Collins, road master of the Missouri Pacific at Kansas City, was killed last night by a train on the Alton road. His remains came in this morning, and the funeral will take place tomorrow. He was, we believe, the only son and support of a widowed mother, who has long been a resident of Atchison.

CONWAY, MARY ANN

Died on Saturday, 29th inst., Mrs. Mary Ann Conway. Funeral will take place tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Friends of the deceased are invited to attend. (The Atchison Daily Champion, Sunday, April 30, 1865, transcribed by Jim Laird)

COWGER, CLARA DELL

Atchison Globe, August 24, 1885

Died - in this city August 23d, Clara Dell Cowger, aged three months. Funeral services were conducted by W. S. Priest this morning.

COX, W.

W. Cox, who killed Lyman Eldridge, of this city on the 29th, ult., was shot by military order on the 3rd inst. He made a full confession of his criminality before he was executed. (The Atchison Daily Champion, Saturday, April 8, 1865, transcribed by Jim Laird)

Atchison Globe, October 10, 1887

The wife of M. C. Crahen, a tailor employed at W. R. Lloyd's, died at 3 o'clock this morning, in child birth. Funeral at 10 a.m. tomorrow from St. Benedict's church.

CROWELL, CHARLOTTE ANN
