GALBRAITH, GEORGE W.

Atchison Globe, April 9, 1888

George W. Galbraith died at his home, No. 511 North Eighth street, at 3:30 yesterday morning, of hemorrhage of the lungs, He had been ill five weeks, and was a son of Scott Galbraith, who died suddenly two years ago. The funeral took place this afternoon at 2 p.m.

GALBRAITH, S. S.

The Globe, February 27, 1878

Died - In this city on the morning of February 27, S. S. Galbraith, aged 19 years, 6 months, and 15 days. The funeral will take place from the residence of his father, on Kansas avenue, between Ninth and Tenth streets, on Friday the 28th at 2 o'clock p.m.. Friends of the family are invited to attend.

GIBSON, CLOLD

Atchison Globe, October 23, 1887

Clold Gibson died at 9:30 this morning, of consumption, age 21 years. Funeral 2 p.m. tomorrow from the colored Methodist church.

GILLESPIE, G. W. MRS.

Died on yesterday morning, Mrs. G. W. Gillespie. Funeral will take place at the residence in South Atchison, at three o'clock this afternoon. Friends of the family are invited to attend. (The Atchison Daily Champion, Saturday, April 15, 1865, transcribed by Jim Laird)

GLASS, INFANT

Atchison Globe, November 6, 1882

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Glass died last night at 6 o'clock. The death is particularly sad because of the circumstances that Mr. Glass is in Duluth, Minnesota cannot reach the city until tomorrow.

GOOD, ELLA VINCENT

GRACIE, ALEXANDER

Atchison Globe, December 20, 1882

The late Alexander Gracie was buried this morning from the Presbyterian church. Notwithstanding the inclement weather, the funeral was largely attended. He died on the 18th at age 53, and leaves a wife and two daughters. The Masons and the Odd Fellows, who attended in a body, were taken out to the cemetery in the street cars.

GREENLEE, W. S.

Atchison Globe, September 20, 1880

The city was shocked yesterday evening by the announcement of the death of Judge W. S. Greenlee, after an illness of only two weeks. The original trouble was intermittent fever, but at his death he was bleeding internally, and there were other complications, the full particulars of which we have not yet learned. He was buried at 3:30 this evening, in the Mount Vernon cemetery, three miles southwest of the city, and the large concourse of people attending his funeral attested better than words the esteem in which he was held.

GRESHAM, CHARLES EDWARD

Charles Edward Gresham, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gresham, was born at Huran, Kansas, July 23, 1878, and passed away at the Hand hospital January 25, 1949, at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 2 days.

He was united in marriage to Iva Winder in 1905 and to this union four sons and one daughter were born: Lester of Kansas City, Lloyd of Essex, John of Hamburg, Joe of St. Joseph, and Mrs Helen Edson of Shenandoah. Mr. Gresham lived in Kansas until 1934, when he with his family, came to Hamburg. He is survived by his wife, his five children and thirteen granchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Thursday, January 27 at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Cecil C. Latta, and burial was made at Mt. Zion cemetery.

GRESHAM, JOSEPH C. MRS.

Huron Herald, March 10, 1898

Mrs. Joseph Grashon (name miss spelled real spelling is Gresham) died at her home south-west of Huron Monday morning at the advanced age of 82 years. Her husband has only been dead two weeks. This is indeed a severe blow to the family to loose both father and mother, within so short a time. The family of the deceased have the sympathy of all in this their sad sorrow.

GRESHAM, MARY ELIZABETH MARKEL

Gresham - Mary Elizabeth Markel was born in Louisville, Ky., Sept. 27, 1841, and died at her home near Old Huron on Oct. 22, 1919, aged 78 years and 25 days. At the age of ten she moved with her parents to Harrison County, Ind.

She married to John Lewis Gresham on Feb. 5, 1863. To this union were born ten children three boys and seven girls. One died in infancy and Abbie died two years ago. The living are: James and Joseph, at home; Charles and Ollie Smith, of Whiting; Ida and Emma Elliott, near Old Huron; Annie Dweese near St. Paul, Kans.; and Sallie Hamilton, of Skidmore, Mo.

Mrs. Gresham was converted and united with the Methodist church when 16 years old. She leaves eight children, 29 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and aged sister and many other relatives and friends to mourn her death. Her funeral was held in the Bethel church on Oct. 24, conducted by Rev. H. I. Miller. Burial was made in the Miller cemetery. submitted by Barbara Ziegenmeyer

GRESHAM, WILLIAM H.

Everest Enterprise, Everest, Kansas, Friday, May 12, 1911

Mr. William Gresham, who lives south of town, passed into the great beyond last Friday night. Mr. Gresham is one of the early settlers and was 67 years old at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Sunday and the body was laid to rest in the Miller Cemetery.

William Gresham, who had been ill with liver complaint since last winter, died at the home of his brother, John Gresham, at Old Huron, last Friday night, May 5, aged 66 years, nine months and 21 days.

He was born in Louisa county, Iowa, July 15, 1844, but moved to Indiana with his parents when six years of age, where he grew to manhood. He came to Kansas in 1868 and lived in this community until his death.

The funeral was held at the home of John Gresham. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. H. I. Miller, and the burial in the Miller cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of which the deceased was a member.

He is survived by one brother and nine nieces and nephews. submitted by Barbara Ziegenmeyer

GUSHING, A. E.

Atchison Globe, August 28, 1885

The funeral of the late A. E. Gushing took place yesterday afternoon from the family residence on Santa Fe street, Washington Lodge, No. 5, A. F. and A. M. conducting the service. The widow, her father, the deceased two children and his aged mother occupied the mourners carriage.

GUTHRIE, JULIA

Atchison Globe, Feb. 15, 1888

Julia Guthrie, aged 7 years, 11 months and 11 days, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Guthrie, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning, of sheer exhaustion, having been confined at home since Christmas with dropsy of the heart, and for several weeks to her bed. The funeral will take place from the residence at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
